Sir – I have a little book entitled Sense and Nonsense – QUOTATIONS, collected by The Malt House Club and its Friends in aid of the Witney Circuit Bazaar 1931.

It was printed by Alfred Usher, printer, Witney, Oxon, and consists of quotations, short poems and mottos supplied by various individuals.

My favourite quote is from a Mr BA Williams, who said: “A social man is one who, when he has 10 minutes to spare, goes and bothers someone who hasn’t” – as true today as in 1931.

Googling “Witney Circuit Bazaar” results in an article about Protestant nonconformity.

Does anyone know more about the Malt House Club and the location of the Malt House? If so, please contact me at the address below.
