Support Shores Green junction improvements petition

First published in Letters

Sir – Every day our roads seem more congested.

New slip roads on the A40 at the Shores Green junction at the top of Oxford Hill will help a lot in Witney town centre and Bridge Street.

Thanks to everyone who has signed the petition to make it a priority for the county council to build it as promised.

If readers want to add their names to the hundreds who have already signed, they can find the petition at change.org/en-GB/petitions/build-shores-green-witney-now

I will be presenting the petition to the county at its meeting at County Hall in Oxford on Tuesday, July 1, and anyone wanting to come along that day will be welcome.

Duncan Enright, district councillor, Witney East ward

Please correct me if I am wrong, but is that not going to be done?
Only a few weeks ago it was mentioned that three phase's of works to be done starting at Station Lane, Shores Green and Downs road.
And was there not also an article commenting that there are still land ownership issue at Shores Green, which were out of the councils hands??
If I am wrong I am sure you will let me know, Otherwise I am not sure what the petition is hoping to achieve!

Pressure, in a word. Hudspeth and the OCC need to be put under constant pressure to get things resolved and good people off their backs. It's only until we keep bringing pressure to bear and show the council for what they are that anything will get done. Fair play to Enright to keep the fight going and keeping the subject in the press, because this is what is needed until all possible avenues have been explored and debated and solutions found and implemented. The public inquiry instructed OCC to get on with the Shores Green option and that was months ago, and still nothing has been done on the face of things. If there is a land ownership problem then they have ways and means of dealing with that too.

The Public Inquiry outcome was published just over 2 years ago. Since then, OCC has done...............n
othing about SGSR.

Hudspeth will be at Henry Box School at 19:00 on 7 July to present his vision of 'Connecting Oxfordshire'. No doubt we'll hear about monorails, trams, guided buses and probably hovercraft and teleportation systems too. But HE needs to hear our frustration about the delay to SGSR.
