Sir – Following my recent retirement, I would like pass on my thanks to all those involved in making my last days in the driving seat of buses around Witney such a special occasion.

From the friendly photographer, Mark Hemsworth, who came to see me in the run-up to my last day, reporter Dan Robinson, who wrote a lovely piece about my 32 years’ service on the buses; to all those special passengers who contributed so generously to the many cards and gifts I received, not forgetting, of course, the many colleagues I had the pleasure of working alongside.

I look forward to seeing you all out and about in the town in future and would love you to keep in touch.

Since hanging up my ticket machine, I have enjoyed the lovely weather, spending time reshaping the garden, visiting my grandchildren and trying to get to grips with the technology at home. I’m now fully passed out on the dishwasher and have only had one mishap with the washing machine, resulting in bubbles all over the kitchen.

This weekend I shall be indulging my passion for aircraft at Fairford.

Once again I extend my thanks to everyone who made my final days special and memorable.
