Sir – Your front page article in the Witney Gazette of July 16 about changes to bus services does not give the full story.

The changes that Stagecoach is making to the bus services through Minster Lovell will have a severe impact.

These changes were made without any consultation with the residents of Minster Lovell or Minster Lovell Parish Council.

At present the S2 runs 23 daily services through Minster Lovell to Oxford city centre via Witney. The earliest is 07.07 and the last at 18.25.

The last return bus from Oxford is 19.05. In addition, the 233 runs 10 daily services through Minster Lovell to Witney between 08.45 and 17.45; however this service runs along Burford Road, so is only available to a handful of people.

After the proposed changes the new S7 will run seven direct services to Headington. The first at 10.12 and the last at 16.12. The 233 service remains unchanged. This is a considerable reduction.

It seems Stagecoach has disregarded the impact these changes will have on people who travel to work, college or school, or who rely on public transport.

It will be impossible for some to travel or at best will prolong the journey time for others. Many will have to resort to travelling by car or taxi, which will have an impact on our already busy roads.

The proposed service S7 only goes ‘near’ to the JR and is so few in number and not at convenient times, that it will not be suitable for most people.

Public transport is a vital service to many, so why has Stagecoach imposed these changes without first consulting the residents of Minster Lovell?
