Sir – As one of the people who “agitated” for a bus link from Witney to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, I was sorry and surprised to read Peter Fry’s letter (Gazette, October 1) in which he told us that when he recently used the service, for much of the journey he more or less had the bus to himself.
Last year, I had a number of visits to the JR, but so far this year, I have been blessed with a ‘clear round’, so have had no reason to use the new S7 service.
I have heard some criticism, because there is a short distance to walk at the hospital end of the journey. Although I am elderly, this would not cause me any problem, but I do wonder if this puts off some people.
However, I am with Mr Fry in hoping that we shall use, rather than lose, this important service.
SJ Murkin (Mrs), Cornfield Close, Witney
