Sir – Further to David Nicholson’s letter (Gazette, December 10), I feel that moving the town council offices to the Corn Exchange would encourage members of the public to observe council meetings and engage more in the democratic process if they were held there once the building reopens, following the current restoration work.
And, in the light of councillor Duncan Enright’s comments about Witney no longer having a magistrates’ court, I think that with a little thought about the layout, the Corn Exchange could be made suitable to take on the role on a part-time basis when a future government realises that a town the size of Witney should have such a court reinstated.
