Sir – With reference to your front-page story on December 3 about a possible delay in the sale of the Langdale Hall, after the trustees of Witney Museum nominated the building to be registered as an asset of community value, I think that both the hall and the Corn Exchange are part of Witney’s heritage and assets of community value.

It would be a serious loss to the people of the town if the Langdale Hall were to be demolished.

The Langdale Hall does have some advantages over the Corn Exchange, namely parking spaces, south-facing windows and external doors, a kitchen and, perhaps, a greater floor area.

I wish the museum trustees and other interested parties mentioned in the story every success in achieving their goal.

If the Langdale Hall is retained as an asset of community value, this may lessen the need for an extension to the Corn Exchange.
