Sir – Tuesday, June 16, marks the third anniversary of the defeat of Oxfordshire County Council’s (OCC) Cogges Link Road (CLR) scheme, much to the council’s evident chagrin, by the voice of local protest.
At the public inquiry, the council stated in evidence that, in the event of the CLR being defeated, it would make an ‘early start’ on the alternative Shores Green Slip Road scheme. Well, it’s now three years since the white elephant of the CLR was defeated: however, despite the clear statement Oxfordshire County Council gave in its evidence, as yet there is absolutely no sign of any ‘early start’ on SGSR.
So isn’t it about time we had at least some indication from OCC as to when they expect to deliver on their commitment?
