Sir – I don’t know whether the majority of your readers have any idea what a difference a little circular bus service round Witney makes to the lives of many disabled and elderly people?
Without it, many of them would be quite unable to get down to the town for doctors, dentists, or hospital appointments, or shopping or just to visit friends.
When the council removed the subsidy and another company took over the service, claiming they could run it at a profit, they failed to cover the whole of the Smith’s Estate and people found they could no longer rely on them.
Now that the original bus company is back, running an efficient and reliable service, we are told the subsidy will not be continued.
I hope that Mr Cameron, our MP and Prime Minister, will use his influence to help to safeguard this service on which so many disabled and elderly people rely.
