Sir – I refer to some rather curious comments contained in the article ‘Five ways to ease A40 congestion’ in the October 14 edition of the Witney Gazette. Dennis Stackenbroker writes of “a toytown railway going from where no one is to where no one wants to go”.

Surely he’s not describing a reopened railway between Witney and Oxford, and suggesting that this town and the city are nowhere places. These destinations, along with possibly Carterton/RAF Brize Norton, are the only ones being considered for the reopening of the former railway.
