Sir – With reference to the letter “Transparency” in last week’s Witney Gazette, I can see that many people are not happy with the planned Cogges Link Road.
As a regular visitor to a friend who lives in Cogges, I find it difficult to understand why are the authorities still insisting on going ahead with this ridiculous plan (has anyone studied the flow of traffic from the roundabout at Sainsbury’s to the traffic lights at the end of Station Lane at peak times?).
From what I have seen about the alternative Shores Green interchange, it would seem a far better solution to the problem Witney is experiencing.
Not only is it a better solution, it would be an awful lot cheaper.
There would then be funds available to sort out the problem of the culvert where a young man lost his life.
I agree with Don Chapman. There must be a referendum for the local population to decide which plan should be agreed upon.
The referendum should also be available to the wider population, and take in towns and villages where people who visit Witney will be affected.
