They made us proud

Sir – I would like to say well done to West Oxfordshire Scouts and Guides for showing such a fantastic display of patriotism at the St George’s Day parade on April 22.

About 800 young people paraded from the Leys to Church Green, in Witney.

Witney Town Band played a couple of hymns and there was a short service with Geoff Crompton, retired group scout leader of Witney Buttercross Scout Group, leading the service, all sections of the scouts and guides renewed their promise, with a reading from county commissioner, Tarquin May.

The weather held out and awards were made to adult volunteers for the service they have given to scouting. I certainly went away very proud to be a scout.

I would like to thank all the volunteers for their support, and the organisers, led by Andy Stokes, group scout leader Witney Buttercross Scout Group, for making it such brilliant event.

Lisa Kinahan, Beaver Leader, Montgomery Beavers, Assistant District Commissioner, Beavers West Oxfordshire
