Sheep stranded by rising water

23 sheep owned by farmer Richard Lovat had to be rescued from the rising waters of a swollen River Evenlode near Combe. The animals were eventually driven to safety by an RSPCA flood rescue team.

Sandbags brought in

Oxford City Council works fast with sandbags to prevent the growing flood water moving towards homes in Bullstake Close just off the Botley Road.

No chance to reopen

The local pub the Plough in Kelmscot, west Oxfordshire, is still closed due to flooding from July 2007 and is now being inundated with water again. Villagers were force to use tractors or canoes to get down the main street to their houses.

Not again ....

Jeremy Palin bought Corner Cottage in Ascott under Wychwood in 2007 and exchanged on the day of the July flooding. He is photographed in the 2008 floods that now threaten his new home.
