PASSENGERS are currently facing major delays on trains running from Oxford to London.

The issue is caused by a point failure on the track at Worcester Shrub Hill, which was reported to Network Rail in the early hours of this morning.

Network Rail had fixed the problem at 7.20am.

First Great Western trains from the Cotswold Line London Paddington were delayed by up to 90 minutes.

Dan Panes, spokesman for First Great Western said: “A bit of track wasn’t working properly and we couldn’t run our trains across it.

“This has significantly affected the first couple of trains this morning but they are now on the move.

“After the next train goes through we expect delays to come down a bit closer to half an hour.”

Services were back to normal by about 9am.
