Karting trio race to a place in regional finals

THREE pupils have been driving for success and won a place in the regional final of a schools karting competition.

Joshua Barwell, Daniel Giddings, Connor Mellor, all 14, represented Cooper School, Churchill Road, Bicester, at the British Schools Karting Championship local final at the Daytona Kart track, in Milton Keynes, last month.

The trio beat competition from seven other teams from Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire and will now go forward to the Midlands regional stage next month, where 25 teams will battle for a place in the national final in June.

Daniel said “It’s fantastic to be given the opportunity to take part in this event and the team worked really well together and supported each other.”

Headteacher Ben Baxter said: “I hope that the students’ dedication and enthusiasm is rewarded in the next round of races.”
