FOUR intrepid explorers are set to arrive in Hungarian capital Budapest today after driving 1,026 miles in a £500 car.
Richard Ash, Philip Donigan, Steve Evins and Brendan Cross of Witney telecoms company STL Communications joined the 2013 Gamma Ball Rally.
It raises money for Ghana children’s charity Action Through Enterprise and East Cheshire Hospice.
They set off from the Newbury office of communications company Gamma on Wednesday.
Company MD Mr Cross, 48, from Sutton, near Eynsham said: “Some may say that spending three days stuck in a car is a good team-building exercise and we’ll have some stories to tell when we get back, but it’s all for a good cause.”
On the way to Hungary, the 23 cars took part in racing challenges at Brands Hatch and the Nürburgring race track.
Sales director Mr Donigan, 37, from Milton-under-Wychwood, said: “The biggest concern is whether this £500 car will make it to Budapest.
“Being so old it doesn’t have mod cons like sat nav, hands-free or iPod connections, so we’re back to maps and community singing.”
