Saintly floral designs will spur fundraising for charity
11:00am Wednesday 2nd October 2013 in Headlines
FLOWER power will leave Woodstock looking blooming marvellous this week as more than 20 groups come together for the town’s flower festival.
The three-day event will begin on Friday with arrangements at St Mary Magdalene Church depicting saints.
The event will raise cash for the church and for the charity Rosy, which helps terminally-ill children and their families.
Organiser Pat Woodward said: “We are delighted to have the support of so many local people.
“The festival coincides with the harvest festival, so it’s a double celebration.”
One of the participants is Ali Wills, of Charlbury, who said: “It’s great that so many local organisations are coming together for the flower festival.”
The church will open its doors to visitors on Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 4pm. Admission is free and refreshments are available.
