COUNCILLORS are expected to support visiting the site in Witney of a controversial plan for 270 homes before making a decision.

Members of West Oxfordshire District Council’s lowlands area planning sub-committee will be asked to back visiting the land to the north of Burford Road.

A planning officer’s report said this is needed because a “large number” of residents had written to object and the plan is of a “controversial nature”.

It said: “Members are advised that in order to fully appreciate the impact of the site on the flood plain/valley bottom, it is likely that walking part of the local footpath network will be essential.”

The committee will be asked to make a decision on the visit when it meets on Monday from 2pm at the council’s Woodgreen offices. The public can attend.
