A MALE driver died after a crash between two cars on the A40 at Burford. 

A grey Volvo and a yellow Audi A4 convertible were involved in the collision on the Cheltenham Road stretch of the A40.

The driver of the Volvo, 67, died at the scene and his family have been informed.

His female passenger, 66, had serious injuries and was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital by ambulance along with the driver of the Audi, a 50-year-old man, who had minor injuries.

The road was closed because of the crash, which happened at 10.30am.

Sgt Julie Caulfield said: “I am appealing for anyone who saw the vehicles travelling prior to the collision, or who saw the collision itself, to please contact police.

“The road was closed while roads policing officers investigated the circumstances of the collision and reopened at around 2.30pm.”

Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service said it sent two engines and cutting equpiment from Kidlington after getting a call at 10.40am.
