MUSIC lovers gathered under the spring sunshine to enjoy an afternoon of sweet melodies at a Witney farm.

Families visited Cogges Manor Farm in Church Lane for the fourth day of the Witney Music Festival.

Revellers gathered at the farm’s Wheat Barn before musicians and bands from across the area entertained their audience.

Festival organiser Stuart Foster said he started planning the festivities after his 21-year-old sister Jo-Marie Foster died in her sleep in 2006.

The 33-year-old, of Witney, added: “I wanted to start a festival in celebration of her life but around music.

"I think sometimes people forget the fun part of music. What we try and do is make it a happy, almost hippy-style, festival.”

Dave Oates, who compared the event, said: “It went brilliantly. The sun was out and it was really chilled. Everybody was loving it. Cogges Manor Farm is such a lovely, peaceful setting.”

Mr Oates said the 10-day event at the Witney farm will come to an end on Saturday.

The 51-year-old, of Charlbury, added: “I think music is a critical part of the community. Music is one of the few things that brings everybody together.”
