A 54-year-old man has been taken to hospital after his lorry came off the A40 this morning and hit trees.

The road is currently closed between B4477 to Witney and White Hill turn to Burford after the crash just before 5am.

Traffic is being directed through Carterton while the closure is in place.

Thames Valley Police spokesman Gareth Ford-Lloyd said specialist recovery crews were helping to remove the lorry, and that there were no other vehicles involved.

Lanes are now open.

South Central Ambulance Service spokesman David Gallagher said the driver, who had to be removed from the vehicle by fire crews, was treated at the scene for minor injuries before being taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital.
