A 54-year-old woman killed in a 21-car pile-up on the A40 died from multiple injuries, Oxford Coroner's Court heard.

An inquest into the death of Deborah Blood, of The Plantation in Abbeymead, Gloucester, was opened today.

The court was told she was pronounced dead at the scene at 8.59am on December 28 following the horrific crash on the road near Witney.

She was a passenger in a white Peugeot driven by her partner which was involved in a collision with a heavy goods vehicle.

Her inquest has been scheduled for May 3 at 10.30am at Oxford Coroner's Court.

A number of people sustained minor injuries in the crash, while a 56-year-old woman was seriously hurt when she was struck by another vehicle when she got out of her car, which had also been involved in the crash.

Last week she remained in a critical condition in the John Radcliffe Hospital.
