SCHOOLS are being sought to host solar panel power plants on their roofs.
Oxford's Low Carbon Hub green energy group, which has already installed such facilities on schools across the county, is looking for 20 more.
By hosting the panels, the hub said schools can save money on energy bills and cut their carbon emissions.
The panels are also an opportunity to educate children about renewables, including using an online metering portal with real-time data about the energy generated on site.
In a statement about its initiative the hub said: "We’re working with Oxfordshire County Council to offer schools across the county the opportunity to assess their school’s suitability for solar panels.
"If you have links to a school in the county as a parent, teacher, governor or member of the community, get in touch with them and show your support for solar. Lead by example showing futures generation the importance of being environmentally aware and socially conscious."
