A LORRY driver who killed a family of four after he was distracted by his mobile phone has had his sentence appeal rejected.
Tomasz Kroker, 30, smashed into a row of stationary traffic on the A34 near Newbury in Berkshire at 50mph in August, 2016.
The collision shunted the vehicle carrying Tracy Houghton, 45, her sons Ethan Houghton, 13, Josh Houghton, 11 and stepdaughter Aimee Goldsmith, 11, underneath a heavy goods vehicle.
Their Vauxhall Corsa was crushed to a third of its size, immediately killing the family, from Bedfordshire, who had been on their way home after a camping trip.
Kroker, 30, admitted he had been changing music on his phone at the time of the crash and was jailed for ten years for four counts of causing death by dangerous driving.
A further five people were injured in the collision.
It was revealed that the father-of-one had signed the declaration form on the same day as the crash promising that he would never use a hand-held mobile phone or hands-free kit while driving.
Kroker appealed the length of his sentence at the Court of Appeal but this was dismissed by Judge Brian Leveson on Friday.
