SANTA has a new sleigh on which to take to the skies, thanks to skilled members of a mental health group.

Santa’s sleigh is the result of two weeks of hard work by East Oxford mental health charity Restore.

The Beehive Recovery Group, based in Manzil Way, hope to spread some Christmas cheer with the impressive creation which will be taken to the Bunkers Hill Plant nursery in Enslow, near Kidlington.

Restore joint chief executive Lesley Dewhurst said: “Recovery isn’t about getting rid of problems or controlling the symptoms of mental ill health.

“Putting recovery into action means supporting people to gain insights into their strengths and achieving goals they set themselves.

“I’m delighted that the Beehive’s members have finished making such a beautiful sleigh that so many people will enjoy, and they rightly should feel very proud of their success.”

The sleigh will be at the plant nursery over Christmas, where donations will also be collected to support Restore.

The charity work with more than 1,250 vulnerable people each year to offer employment support.
