ELLOISE Sheffield will get to be queen for a day when Eynsham’s annual carnival hits the streets tomorrow.

The 15-year-old Bartholomew School pupil will have pride of place during the parade.

The carnival, now in its 54th year, kicks off at 12.15pm with the annual shirt race through the village.

At 12.30pm, the parade will be officially opened by longstanding Eynsham GP Dr Philip Stephenson. It will wind through the village from the Back Lane car park to the Oxford Road playing fields for the carnival show.

The show will feature sheep shearing, duck herding and falconry displays, carnival rides and music from the Jazz Men. For youngsters, there will be a Punch and Judy show, face painting and a theatre performance by the Oxford Playhouse.
