Flood alerts issued

FLOOD alerts are now in force for a number of rivers and brooks around Oxfordshire as a result of yesterday's heavy rain.

Alerts issued by the Environment Agency, warning that flooding of low-lying land and roads is possible and householders should take precautions, cover the following watercourses:

  • River Evenlode from Moreton-in-Marsh to Cassington, including Kingham, the Wychwoods villages, Charlbury and Long Hanborough.
  • River Glyme at Wootton and Woodstock.
  • River Ray, from Shipton Lee to Islip, including Blackthorn and Murcott.
  • River Thame, including Thame, Shabbington, Ickford, Waterperry, Wheatley, Drayton St Leonard and Overy.
  • Chalgrove Brook at Chalgrove and Stadhampton.
  • Langford and Wendlebury Brooks and their tributaries from Stratton Audley down to the M40 near Merton, including Bicester and Wendlebury.
