Call goes out to Chox runners

OVERINDULGED a bit too much at Christmas? Too frightened to get on the bathroom scales?

Then why not make it your New Year's resolution to take part in this year's OX5 fun run, sponsored by The Oxford Times and the Oxford Mail, in the grounds of Blenheim Palace and raise money for a good cause at the same time.

Last year, almost 1,000 people took part in the event, raising nearly £50,000 for the Oxford Children's Hospital Campaign.

This year the aim is to get 1,500 people on the start line and to smash last year's fundraising total which will provide much-needed funds for the hospital.

Chox fundraising manager Graham Brogden said: "It doesn't seem like five minutes since the last OX5 Run and so much has been achieved with the Oxford Children's Hospital Campaign in twelve months.

"We would like to thank everyone who took part in and organised the OX5 Run last year, especially as the event raised nearly £50,000! This year we hope even more people and teams will take part in the run and do something special with their Sunday.

'Taking part will make such a difference to the 65,000 children that will use the new hospital each and every year'

"Taking part will make such a difference to the 65,000 children that will use the new hospital each and every year."

The editor of The Oxford Times, Derek Holmes, added: "The OX5 event has become an eagerly anticipated fixture in Oxford's sporting calendar and it also raises a small fortune for a great local cause.

"We are delighted to continue our support for the event, which just gets bigger and better each year."

Those who manage to go the extra yard in the sponsorship stakes by racking up more than £300 in donations will be rewarded with a free limited edition Chox hoody style top.

Those who get £200 in sponsorship will receive a limited edition Chox sweatshirt and those who get £100 in sponsorship will receive a limited edition Chox T-shirt.

Entry to the event on March 25 is £10 and participants are encouraged to get their entry fees in as soon as possible. For more information contact 01865 425273 or call Cynthia on 01865 743444.
