A NEW residential house for young disabled people has been opened by Witney MP David Cameron, writes.
Mr Cameron opened Redwood House, at Penhurst School, in Chipping Norton, on Friday.
Penhurst School, which is part of leading children's charity NCH, has offered education and care to children and young people with special needs for more than 30 years.
Redwood House, the only one of its kind in Oxfordshire, will allow Penhurst to extend its provision to young people up to the age of 25.
It will provide accommodation for six young people, and includes a light and sound sensory room, and a communal kitchen and living area, with specially adapted equipment.
Penhurst School principal, Stephen Bajdala-Brown, said: "We were delighted to have the wonderful opportunity to show Mr Cameron the fantastic facilities we have here, and to highlight the incredible difference this school can make to the lives of profoundly disabled young people."
Penhurst School caters for 24 children, from five to 19 years old.
