CARTERTON market is on the move after 20 years in the same location.
The weekly Thursday market is to relocate from behind the Beehive pub, to Black Bourton Road, which will be closed to traffic every Thursday during the day.
The new market will formally open at 10am on Thursday. Stalls will be decorated with a Christmas theme, and Father Christmas will pay a visit. There will be free refreshments and special promotions.
Town mayor, Phil Scott, said: "The market is very much a part of life in Carterton, but in recent years, it has suffered from being away from the other shops.
"We have visited other market towns in the county and seen how a thriving town centre market can increase the vitality of the area.
"We have worked with stall-holders to provide an attractive setting, and I am confident that in the run-up to Christmas, shoppers will enjoy coming to Carterton on market days.
Kevin Hurdman, a spokesman for the market traders, said: "Many of us have been coming to Carterton for a long time.
"We are all very enthusiastic about moving to a new site.
"During December, we will be offering a number of special deals, and look forward to welcoming shoppers to our new look stalls."
