2:37pm Monday 11th December 2006 in Witney
THE Witney mayor's Christmas carol service is to be held at St Mary's Church at 7pm on Friday.
Witney Town Band, bells, singers from Henry Box School and several primary schools will perform. There will be mulled wine and nibbles.
Mayor of Witney, Chrissie Curry, said: "It will be a very traditional Christmas carol service with carols that are beloved by everyone. I would like people to bring a gift for a senior citizen or a child in need, which will be distributed in and around Witney before Christmas, with the help of the Rotary Club of Witney.
"It will be a lovely service, especially as it is being conducted by the new team rector and town chaplain, the Rev David Childs."
If people cannot come to the service, but would like to donate a gift, they can leave them at Costa Coffee, in the Woolgate Centre.
Gifts must be wrapped and marked if they are for a child or an elderly person.
