New homes for town

THE building of 1,500 new homes in Carterton has begun.

Cottsway Housing Association has started work on the first phase of 38 homes in Shilton Park, which, once finished, will provide the town with 100 affordable homes.

David Waters, chief executive of Cottsway, said: "We are very excited about the scheme, as not only will it help to meet a pressing need for affordable homes, but it is being built to an innovative design, which features contemporary house styles and tree-lined boulevard,"

He said the homes were being built to high environmental standards, and the courtyards have been designed to be well-lit and secure.

The 100 properties will include one-, two-, and three-bedroom rented homes. There are also one- and two-bedroom flats, and two- and three-bedroom houses for shared ownership, with prices starting at £48,000 for a 40 per cent share of the equity.
