POLICE have sent out a warning for motorists in West Oxfordshire to avoid giving thieves an easy ride by putting their valuables out of sight.
Motorists are being encouraged to put stickers carrying the message 'No tools are kept in this van overnight' in their vehicles, to discourage thieves and to hide their satnavs.
Some of the 2,000 stickers have been distributed to builders' merchants and DIY stores to hand out free to customers.
Police say satellite navigation equipment is also proving popular, and many people received the kits for Christmas as presents.
Police advise motorists to always wipe off the distinctive sucker' mark from satellite navigation systems attached to the windscreen, to never leave anything on display in an unattended vehicle, even for a few minutes.
As an extra precaution, items such as satellite nav kits, car entertainment systems and PDAs should be security marked or tagged. Owners should also note the make, model, and serial number.
