AN Oxfordshire event promoter was so disappointed after an evening spent doing the rounds in London he decided to create a better comedy club nearer to home.
Mark Pencherz is launching Comedy Fixx at the iZi bar and cafe in Market Square, Witney, on Wednesday next week.
The night, which will bring some of the brightest and best comic talents to the county, will also be held at the Jericho Tavern, in Walton Street, Oxford - starting on Tuesday next week.
Mr Pencherz, who comes from a film background and worked on the recent Lady Godiva project, which was filmed in Oxford directed by Vicky Jewson, said he was keen to promote alternative local venues to London.
He said: "It's been one of those ideas which slowly turned from thinking 'I could do better than this', to actually building my own event. Thankfully the whole process fell into place. I've caught some lucky breaks, but also worked hard at it, and I've had some tremendous help from family and friends.
"Vicky was a true inspiration, and also a bit younger than me. I thought maybe it was about time I stuck my neck out and did something bold myself."
