1:28pm Tuesday 13th February 2007 in Witney By Tim Hughes
PEOPLE living in David Cameron's Witney constituency have reacted to claims their MP took drugs as a teenager, with a resounding 'so what!'.
Constituents of all ages rallied around the Tory leader - and have been unanimous in their lack of concern over the allegations that the smoked cannabis at Eton.
* Liz Walker, 27, of Newland, Witney said: "I don't judge him badly because of this. I'm a teacher, and I did things I regret when I was younger. We've all got a past - that's what makes us who we are. It's good to see he's human."
* Beth Willis, 15, of Taphouse Avenue, Witney, said: "You do lots of things as a teenager, but they don't matter."
* Stacie Rainbow, 16, of Moor Avenue, Witney, said: "Fair play to him for coming clean. Everybody makes mistakes. It's his private life, and it happened ages ago."
* Susan O'Leary, 45, of Bramble Bank, Witney, said: "People are bringing up a load of rubbish about him. It's not necessary. So what if he smoked? It hasn't done him any harm."
* Sioban Burnett, 33, of Elm Grove, Milton-under-Wychwood, said: "We all do things we regret when we are younger. He's a grown man, and what he did when he was younger is of no concern."
* Nick Laizans, of Weavers Close, Witney, said: "We all did things at school, which we shouldn't have done. It's all in the past, and people should forget about it."
* Elsie Garratt of High Street, Burford, said: "He's lovely. Who cares what he did."
