Rock night to raise funds for charity

POP, ska, and reggae fans are being encouraged to snap up tickets for a charity rock night.

Witney band The Inflatables is holding a charity concert at the town's Palace club this Friday, in aid of mental health charity Oxfordshire Mind.

More than 100 tickets have already been sold for the gig, and music lovers are being urged to book in advance to ensure they catch the show.

The Inflatables have a reputation for supplying classic ska, reggae, and soul, covering songs from the likes of Madness, The Specials, James Brown, UB40, and Bob Marley.

Band member Martin 'Nobby' Holloway said: "We've been together since 1980, and played many gigs in Witney in our early days.

"We are pleased to support such a worthwhile charity. We haven't been seen in Witney for a while, so we hope people will join us for a stonking night out."

Nicky Clargo, a spokesman for Oxfordshire Mind, said: "We're delighted to have The Inflatables playing for us. They have a huge following in Oxfordshire. In fact, we tried to book them last July, but this was the first date they could do. We hope lots of people will come along to support Mind."

Tickets cost £5, and are available in advance from Nicky, on 01993 882800, Sue, on 01993 778289, Figments, 9 Langdale Court, Witney, or Renaissance, in Wesley Walk, Witney. Tickets will be available on the door, subject to availability.

The show begins at 9pm.
