3:20pm Tuesday 27th February 2007 in Witney By Denise Barkley
THE landlords of a Witney pub handed over a cheque for £1,108 to the Oxfordshire charity Against Breast Cancer (ABC).
The money was raised from a variety of events, including quizzes and steak nights, held at the Three Pigeons, Wood Green, Witney, over the past year.
Landlords, John Pratt and Joy Gosling, along with pub regular Colin Smith, who runs the monthly quizzes, handed the cheque to Patricia Leathem, fundraising director of ABC, which is based at Harwell, and is doing pioneering work into the effect diet and lifestyle has on survival from breast cancer. She was accompanied by members of the Witney fundraising team, who last year raised more than £22,000 from various events, including the popular Witney in the Pink Day.
Pictured, from left, are quizmaster Colin Smith, landlords John Pratt and Joy Gosling, and members of the Witney fundraising team of ABC, Natasha Hall, chairman Jeanne Chattoe, treasurer Laura Hounam, Lucy Chattoe, secretary Denise Barkley, and Sue Mulliss.
