SPECIAL citizens in Carterton could be rewarded with a new award to mark their achievements.
Carterton Town Council has set up an Exceptional Citizen's Award scheme, which will see honours presented to people in the town.
Any resident, or former resident, of Carterton can be nominated. There is no age limit, nor any limit on the number of awards which may be issued each year.
However, as town mayor, Phil Scott, explained, awards would only be given for the 'highest level of achievement or service'.
He said: "The council knows that there are a number of people in the town who have worked tirelessly for many years to make the town a better place for all who live in it.
"Such people do not expect any reward, but the council does want to thank them in some way.
"We felt that an Exceptional Citizen's Award would be a good way of achieving this.
"If anyone would like to nominate a friend or colleague, they should contact the town hall for a nomination form."
Forms are available from: The Town Clerk, Town Hall, Alvescot Road, Carterton OX18 3JL.
All nominations will be confidential.
