A FLEET of 41 seasoned bikers revved their engines and took a spin to raise money for Oxfordshire Animal Sanctuary.

Members of the Beerhounds Motorcycle Club in Bicester donned their leather jackets and set off on the sponsored ride from Fluffy Paws Pet Supplies, Bucknell Road, on Saturday.

From there the team rode for 45 minutes through the Oxfordshire countryside and pitched up at the animal sanctuary in Stadhampton.

Beerhounds chairman and Fluffy Paws owner Rob Douglas, 48, said: “I’m a pet lover and thought, How can I fit my interest in motorbikes into charity work? I’ve been a biker since I was 16 and I would never give up my bike.

“Oxfordshire Animal Sanctuary has had a challenging time recently so we support them on an annual basis. They’re in the process of rebuilding and modernising.”

On their return to Bicester the bikers met again for a celebratory after-party at the Plough Inn, Arncott, with live music from Bicester pop-punk band Wet Nightmare and Newbury band The Fire Antz.

The second event was in aid of Sobell House Hospice in Oxford.

In total the team raised £500 for the animal sanctuary and £233 for the Sobell House.
