Combat medic saves lives in Iraq

A FORMER Witney college student is now in the thick of things in Iraq as an army medic.

Corporal Richard Reeve, of 4th Battalion The Rifles, is on a six-month tour of duty, and due to return home in November.

He provides medical support as one of the combat medics, sometimes handling common aches and strains, at other times gunshot wounds and worse.

Cpl Reeve, 32, has been in the Army since 1993, and used to attend West Oxfordshire Technical College, in Witney, now Abingdon and Witney College.

He often returns home to Witney as his parents still live in the town.

He said: "Working in the regimental aid post is sometimes very difficult, as we have to deal with some quite traumatic cases.

"However, it is a vital job and can be very rewarding when saving someone's life."
