GREEN Gym volunteers in West Oxfordshire are urging others to come and join them to help the environment, with new projects lined up in Chipping Norton and Finstock.
Green Gym's handiwork over the last year can be seen at the Water Meadows, in Woodstock, where the group cleared ditches to improve the flow and repaired a bridge and gate.
They have also been engaged in improvements at the Old Woodstock Line Nature Reserve, and raked a meadow to encourage bee orchids. Regular activities include tree felling, stream clearance, and footpath construction every Wednesday and at weekends.
The gym is part of the British Trust for Conservation Volunteers, a charity set up in 1959 to take an active part in caring for the environment.
Sessions run every Wednesday, 10am to 1pm, and at weekends. For a full programme of activities and more information contact Ms Sperinck, on 01296 330033, or e-mail n.sperinck@btcv.org.uk
