2:56pm Saturday 2nd February 2008 in Witney By David Horne
A COUPLE who met through the Internet walked down the aisle at St Mary's Church, Cogges - and then went to their favourite Witney restaurant for a reception with 28 guests.
Oxford Brookes University lecturer Ralph Targett and his bride, Perla Lolo, linked up through a dot.com site, containing personal details and photographs, last February.
He lives in Witney, and she in the Philippines, and on May 4 last year, they met for the first time.
"It was my birthday, and he came out to surprise me. The next day we were engaged," said Perla.
Mr Targett's son, Thomas, was the best man, but none of his bride's family could make it to the wedding.
He said: "There are obvious problems with a winter wedding. It is just too cold for the usual outdoor marquee or reception on the lawn.
"It seemed a good idea therefore to see if it were possible to hold our reception at the Curry Paradise, in High Street, Witney, and they more than welcomed the idea, suggesting a suitable menu from his large range of Bangladeshi dishes."
The couple live at Newland, Witney.
