A WITNEY man who performed a sex act on another man while he was asleep was jailed for 12 months.

Oxford Crown Court heard Dominic Smith, 22, of Moorland Road, Witney, during a previous hearing had admitted causing a person to engage in sexual activity without consent.

Nick Cotter, defending, said Smith had no recollection of committing the offence, but said he decided to plead guilty when he saw the evidence against him.

Sentencing Smith to 12 months in prison, Judge Julian Hall told him: "What you did was engage in an unbelievably intimate assault on somebody else who was asleep.

"I can't avoid a prison sentence in this case."
