CHILDREN and families missing their dads on military service abroad will have their own personalised recordings to be reminded of them.
The Storybook Wings scheme, adapted from one already used in the Prison Service, was launched at RAF Brize Norton.
Base commander, Group Captain Malcolm Brecht, officially opened the recording studio where a small number of serving volunteers will tape messages and colour them with songs and other favourite sound material.
Brize Norton has about 4,000 serving men and women, and is involved in operations in Afghanistan and Iraq.
