12:41pm Friday 22nd February 2008 in Witney By David Horne
SIXTEEN of West Oxfordshire's best young talents have received awards and financial help to develop their sporting and artistic skills.
They include Witney student Josh Benfield, who already has the county championship for hammer throwing, and Imogen Shayler, also from Witney, who is a member of the Great Britain freestyle kickboxing team.
All 16 were selected for a round of grant applications under a scheme operated by their district council.
Some are already representing their county on the sports field, and will be using the grants, which have a ceiling of £250 each, to help pay for further training, equipment, and travelling.
The council scheme has been operating since the 1990s to encourage and help develop talented young people.
