THREE Carterton residents are to receive Exceptional Citizens' Awards for their service to the town.
Dee Bulley and George Cowles will be presented at a reception on July 11 joined by Sheila Stone, widow of the late Keith Stone, for a posthumous award.
All three were nominated by fellow residents of the town under the award scheme set up last year.
Mrs Bulley has represented the town as town and county councillor for over 30 years, serving as mayor five times. She is also a founder of the Songsters which has raised thousands of pounds for charities with musical evenings.
Mr Cowles was a founder of the Advice and Neighbourhood Centre 22 years ago which, although it closed last year, advised 16,000 people over the years.
Mr Stone served on the town, district and county councils, and was chairman of West Oxfordshire District Council, when he suddenly died last year.
Sir Hugo Brunner, Lord Lieutenant of Oxfordshire, is to present the award at the reception at the town hall.
Mayor, Maxine Crossland, said: "I am delighted that we have three very worth recipients to join the five awarded last year."
