A SECOND strike is due to cripple mail deliveries across Oxfordshire from today. Drivers in charge of transporting mail to the county’s delivery offices will be out for 48 hours.
It means no lorries will carry mail from Swindon where mail is now sorted since the closure of the Oxford mail centre in June.
The strike, which is being staged by postal lorry drivers across the UK, focuses on a breakdown of negotiations between the Communication Workers Union and management, a lack of “family friendly” working hours and alleged bullying and harassment of staff.
Meanwhile, a national ballot for strike action amongst all Royal Mail staff due to start on Wednesday has been postponed and is set to take place on September 16.
