POLICE are waiting to formally interview the victim of an apparent chainsaw attack in a remote village lane.
The 38-year-old man is at the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford, recovering from deep wounds to his upper thighs received when his flatbed lorry was apparently stopped by several men on Hen and Chick Lane, Shilton, on Wednesday last week.
The vehicle was then set on fire.
Police said the man, who lives in the area, is conscious and stable after undergoing surgery, but has had difficulty remembering the details of the incident. Yesterday, they confirmed the chainsaw found in the burnt-out vehicle had been in the lorry before the attack.
The police have said they are keeping an open mind about the attack, and are going on details the man gave to paramedics and passers-by at the scene.
