A year of hard work and fun in China

A TALK and slideshow on one woman's year in China will be held in the Chipping Norton Theatre on Tuesday, March 28.

Lindsay Fairgrieve, a 48-year-old single full-time student, spent the second year of a four-year degree living in Tianjin, People's Republic of China, with about 20 18-year-old fellow students.

She said: "We were all thrown in the deep end together, and although the course we were studying Modern Chinese was incredibly stressful and difficult, there were nevertheless some hilarious moments during our year together in China."

The evening will be a fascinating and amusing account of the places she visited in China Beijing, Xi'an, Tai Shan, Inner Mongolia, Shanghai, and Tibet and will introduce the Chinese way of life.

A percentage of profits from Lindsay's show will be donated to Emma's Trust, a fund set up in memory of Emma Curtis-Smith, who died, aged 18, in June last year.

Emma, an enthusiastic, cheerful, and beautiful young woman, suffered a collapsed lung, which led to a major heart attack.

The talk will be held between 2pm to 4.15pm, with a 15-minute interval, in The Theatre, in Spring Street, Chipping Norton. Tickets are £10.50, concessions £9.50, available from the box office, on 01608 642350. For more details, e-mail boxoffice@chippingnortontheatre.co.uk, or see www.chippingnortontheatre.co.uk
