Musician raises funds for centre in Africa

MILES from home an African musician has been busking in Witney and Oxford to raise money for a music school in Senegal.

Jali Fily Cissokho, pictured, has been living in Witney while he raises funds for a new music centre in Ziguinchor, where he was born.

He is working with the Oxford-based project Kaira-Arts, which aims to promote the appreciation of Senegalese culture, music, and craft.

He works on the project teaching and performing in concerts. Recently, they raised almost £200 at Burford Garden Centre.

Anyone wishing to donate can e-mail the project manager, Christine Lord, on chris@kaira-arts.co.uk
